A common misconception on ABA is that we work primarily on behavior reduction. That we are the “tantrum people”.
In reality, most of what we as humans do every minute of every day is a behavior.
In ABA, we work on behaviors.
An essential behavior, is expressive vocal communication. This is something we work on heavily in our sessions.
Here we have one of our hardest working babies. He has been having trouble making an M sound specifically in the word “Dame” and this is one of the first times he has been successful with making that sound!!
He was able to do this after his RBT Mariana practiced using oral motor imitation, shaping and differential reinforcement.
Expressive vocal communication is a big part of ABA and we are grateful to get to help our kids learn clear and articulate language skills!
